We will adapt the design to your needs. If young children are your main concern we will ensure that the cover is designed to ROSPA's guidelines. If children are less frequent visitors the cover may not adhere exactly to the guidelines but will always offer a practical level of safety.
How does the cover affect a wildlife or fish pond environment?
All covers are designed to complement (and if possible improve) their ponds in every way, including their plants and animals.
The space between the cover and the pond surface provides wildlife with an area where it can interact with the pond in a natural way.
Frogs, newts and toads use the cover as protection from cats. Dragonflies and damselflies fly through the bars as they would thick reed growth. Garden birds can get through the covers to drink and bathe with protection.
Fish can benefit from protection against herons and thieves (if designed to do so).
Water quality can be improved in several ways, for example by providing some shade if the pond is situated on an exposed site or if surface cover is not wanted.

How do I tend the pond once the cover is in place?
This will be decided with you according to your needs, the cover can be made partially or completely removable and/or safety hatches can be included in the design.
Does the cover fit existing ponds or just new ones?
Bespoke covers are designed for you - they can be made to fit your existing pond, or we can work with you to redesign your pond or make a new one. The covers are unique and made to order - unusual shapes or sizes are not a problem.
The Diatom and Limpet designs include liners so are complete new ponds.
Delivery and installation are all part of the bespoke service and will be carried out with care and respect for your garden.
Do I need to change my pond surround?
No, we visit to measure and template your pond and will design appropriate fixings for your surround - we can fix to anything from boggy to stone.
Can children climb on the cover?
We would recommend that you don't allow children to climb on the cover - it will be strong enough to take their weight but playing on a pond with a cover might mean they don't appreciate the dangers of an uncovered pond.
Can I still have a fountain with a pond cover?
Yes, whatever you want - let us know and we can incorporate moving water, lighting and planting into the design
